MONA Nova: The powerful and cost-efficient electric telehandler (EN)
MONA Motors is expanding its product portfolio with the MONA Nova, a fully electric telehandler designed for professional agricultural operations. With a lifting capacity of 2.7 metric tons, a lifting height of 6.3 meters, and a powerful electric drive, the MONA Nova combines the capabilities of a modern telescopic loader with the economic benefits of electric drive technology. The telehandler is particularly appealing to farms with their own photovoltaic systems: they can operate using self-generated electricity, thereby reducing their ongoing energy costs.
Powerful Electric Drive for Agricultural Use
The MONA Nova telehandler was developed from the ground up as an electric work machine. A 54 kW drive system and a separate 26 kW working hydraulics system deliver the power needed for the task at hand. Power is supplied by a 46 kWh LiFePO₄ battery. The telehandler can be charged directly at a wallbox using the standard 22 kW onboard charger.
Solar Power Instead of Diesel
An electric drive can be economically attractive, especially when annual operating hours are high. For example, a conventional telehandler can consume about eight liters of diesel per operating hour under appropriate loads. At 750 operating hours, that amounts to about 6,000 liters of diesel per year. For the MONA Nova, MONA Motors estimates an average energy consumption of about 12.5 kWh per operating hour under comparable usage profiles. The actual savings depend on the specific usage profile as well as the price of electricity and diesel.
Connected to the Farmer and the Service Network
The integrated telemetry system provides relevant vehicle and operational data to both the farmer and the service center. Using the MONA Connect app, the farmer can, among other things, check the battery’s charge level and adjust the machine’s charging to match the farm’s energy needs and its own power generation. Software updates can be transferred to the vehicle “over the air.” This allows updates to be installed without an additional visit to the service center.
About MONA Motors
MONA Motors GmbH, headquartered in Bad Waldsee, develops electric agricultural machinery and energy systems. Its product portfolio includes fully electric farm loaders and telehandlers, as well as battery storage solutions. The goal is to enable farms to use electric machinery efficiently and cost-effectively, with a particular focus on increasing the use of self-generated electricity from photovoltaic or biogas systems for their own operations.
