MONA Island 261: Use Your Own Solar Power Around the Clock (EN)
Many farms generate large amounts of their own electricity using photovoltaic systems. However, generation and consumption often do not occur at the same time: While the PV system delivers high output during the day, milking equipment, cooling systems, ventilation, pumps, and electric vehicles also require energy in the morning, evening, and at night. With the MONA Island, MONA Motors offers a battery storage system that temporarily stores excess solar power and makes it available on the farm at a later time. This allows a larger portion of the self-generated energy to be used directly on the farm.
261 kWh for energy-intensive farms
With a storage capacity of 261 kWh and a charging and discharging power of up to 125 kW, the system is designed specifically for farms with high electricity consumption spread throughout the day. Instead of feeding excess PV power directly into the grid, it can be stored and used later on the farm itself.
A Storage Solution for Various Loads
The stored electricity can be used, for example, for milking and feeding equipment, ventilation and cooling, pumps, lighting, wall boxes or electric machinery. In this way, MONA Island connects the farm’s own power generation to the various loads on a farm.
Backup Power in the Event of a Grid Outage
In the event of a public grid outage, the MONA Island 261 can provide an emergency off-grid power supply. Priority loads such as barn equipment, ventilation, milking robots, pumps, or control systems can thus continue to be powered from the battery storage system. This enhances supply reliability, particularly on livestock farms.
Expandable to Meet Growing Energy Needs
In the event of a public grid outage, the MONA Island 261 can establish a backup power system to continue supplying prioritized loads. For operations with higher storage requirements, MONA Motors also offers the larger MONA Island 418. This allows for the flexible use of self-generated solar power on the farm.
About MONA Motors
MONA Motors GmbH, headquartered in Bad Waldsee, develops electric agricultural machinery and energy systems. Its product portfolio includes fully electric farm loaders and telehandler, as well as battery storage solutions. The goal is to enable farms to use electric machinery efficiently and cost-effectively, with a particular focus on increasing the use of self-generated electricity from photovoltaic or biogas systems for their own operations.
